Absents: Little is known of Absents. Some argue that none even exist. Absents are so-named due to rumors of Angels willingly leaving their position, surrendering their immortality to live on Earth as a human. There are two ways that are possible:

An Angel can be reborn into a human. They lose all memories of their life in Heaven, and their Ethereal form and powers lie dormant in the human shell.

Or, an Angel can decide to forcibly take the place of a human. In the circumstance of a human facing death, an Angel can push the human’s soul out of its body, and claim it for its own inhabitation. In this case, they retain their knowledge and memories of their Ethereal life.

Absents can be found if they bring attention to themselves. You can spot one by their talents or skills. Those that identify as “miraculous healers” and/or in position of great faith-based authority, are most likely Absents. Regardless, when an Angel leaves their post, they cannot return to Heaven.

Ethereals: DEFINITION

Exorcists: Humans who take up work in killing off Fallen and Demons. An endless cycle. They use weapons infused with the power of Fallen/Demons, which is physically extracted from the husk of the beings. This gives them the ability to harm Ethereals. These weapons are then used to kill more Fallen. Exorcists live in pockets of organized groups throughout the world. Different groups can have different rules or procedures. The most communication between Exorcist groups is when leaders exchange information with each other.

Fallen: A subgroup of Ethereals that reside on Earth. Fallen are Angels cast out of their position when they’re deemed inefficient or flawed. The most common past of a Fallen is a rejected Guardian. They are forced into the physical form of humans, retaining some Ethereal qualities such as extended lifespan/near immortality. Fallen age and die unnaturally. Fallen’s physical forms age the more emotional distress and trauma they endure. Older Fallen are rare, and those who have lived so long often stay away from other Fallen and Ethereals entirely.

Due to their Ethereal origin, Fallen commonly struggle with hormonal and physical developmental issues. EX: the spectrum of intersexuality.
